Who is the dreamer and who’s the dreamed
Who are the ones that remain unseen
Absent from reality
If I am one of them will your dream of me

All the specters will cry from the land of naught
Doomed to inhabit the thoughts unthought
Praying for atomic form
Wanting any sensation if cold or warm

There is no way to know whether we all exist
Or if we are just specks in ethereal mist
But we live like we’re real and the consequences
Of our actions will affect the nature of
Our universal sense of looming dread

That we’re the nothingness of an eternal sleep
None of our memories meant to keep
All in someone else’s head
Never truly alive but the heedless dead

Although transient realms of the world perceived
Mean that we have all just been deceived
Thinking that our reveries
Are the evidence of actualities

Just because we can dream doesn’t mean we are real
And our certainty that what we touch we can feel
Could be simulations governed by outside hands
That manipulate with sheer malevolence for
All the puppets with their brittle strands

Dancing in step for a mortal god
Doesn’t that strike you as sort of odd
Living in complicity
With the forced movements of choreography

Even though this could be fabricated time
I will proceed as if what is mine
Is the only thing that’s true
So when I go to sleep I will dream of you
